Bangladesh apparel exports jump 14.51% in July-Jan 2019

Category-wise, knitwear exports rose 13.86 per cent to $10.140 billion in the first seven months of fiscal 2018-19, as against exports of $8.906 billion during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, as per the data.
Likewise, exports of woven apparel increased 15.18 per cent to $10.076 billion during the period under review, compared to exports of $8.748 billion during July-January 2017-18.
Woven and knitted apparel and clothing accessories’ exports together accounted for 83 per cent of $24.179 billion worth of total exports made by Bangladesh during the July-January period.
In the last fiscal ending June 30, 2018, garment exports from Bangladesh crossed the $30-billion mark and surpassed the target by 1.51 per cent. For the current fiscal, the Government of Bangladesh has set readymade garments export target at $32.689 billion. (PC)
