Stanton, who will start in July 2018, has outstanding commercial, product, and retail experience. Most recently, Jill was executive vice president at Old Navy where she was a key member of the turnaround team and acted as interim president.

M&S has also announced the appointment of menswear expert, Wes Taylor, as menswear director in May 2018. Wes has over 30 years’ experience in fashion retailing having progressed through Arcadia to lead the Burton business as managing director for 11 years.

Working alongside Jill and Wes in the clothing and home business units will be Laura Charles and Neil Harrison. Laura has been a key member of the team driving M&S’s market leading lingerie position since 2014, and is promoted to the new position of lingerie director. Neil has twenty years’ M&S experience and is currently driving the strategy for growth as home director. He will pick up additional responsibility for beauty.

Michael Kerr, who is currently menswear & kidswear director, has decided to leave M&S after 35 years to pursue other career opportunities. Also, Queralt Ferrer, womenswear & lingerie design director, has resigned from the post. Consequently, responsibility for design will be integrated into the business units.

Belinda Earl, who has most recently been covering womenswear, is stepping away from her commercial role with the retailer but will continue to work in an advisory role and sit on the Board of the M&S archive. She will eventually hand over her womenswear responsibilities to Jill Stanton. (GK)
