The apparel companies of Myanmar are gearing up for the upcoming Apparel Sourcing Paris beginning February 11. With a long tradition of garment manufacturing, Myanmar has been supplying highly demanding customers in Japan and South Korea since many years now. At the four-day trade show, the companies will display real value added products.

In the first ten months of 2017, European apparel imports from Myanmar grew almost exponentially (+65.5 per cent), in contrast to China (-1.4 per cent), India (-1.7 per cent) and Indonesia (-7.9 per cent) which are decreasing. Myanmar is eager to explore new opportunities and establish direct links, through this programme, in order to improve its factories and continue to develop its skills.

"Our focus is to build capacity in the country and within the industry to handle the FOB process in a responsible way," chairman of Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA), U Myint Soe. (RR)
