While introducing PVH, acting under secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Manisha Singh appreciated the company’s commitment to people, the environment and communities.
"PVH’s efforts in Hawassa are a model of bilateral cooperation. They’re providing a better future for workers, a better future for their families, and responsible industrialisation. We want other companies to look at their model and say, 'We should be doing this as well'", said Singh.
PVH is set out to make a blueprint of a state-of-the-art apparel supply chain facility that made financial sense to complement sustainable operations, Chirico said.
"We brought like-minded partners together to create a model park designed to spur economic growth without polluting or depleting Ethiopia’s natural resources. This honour is a testament to our company’s unwavering commitment to power industry change – the right way," explained Chirico.
Established in 1999, the Annual Secretary of State Award for Corporate Excellence recognises US companies representing American values in their business practices worldwide and contributing to the growth and sustainable development of the local economies in which they work. (RR)
