Revenue, profits of major garment firms in China rise in Jan-April

Revenue, profits, output, online retail sales and exports of major garment enterprises in China have risen during the first four months of the current year, according to data from the ministry of industry and information technology. Total profit of 12,444 major garment firms shot up by 37.9 per cent year-on-year to 18 billion yuan during January-April 2021.

The combined operating revenue of these 12,444 major Chinese garment enterprises grew 13.4 per cent year-on-year to 407.8 billion yuan ($63.86 billion) during the four-month period, according to the ministry statistics.
The combined output of these companies increased 23.87 per cent year-on-year to more than 7.05 billion pieces, the ministry said.
During January-April 2021, online retail sales of apparel and accessories expanded 33.8 per cent year-on-year, as per the latest statistics.
Meanwhile, garment exports soared 51.7 per cent year-on-year to $44.4 billion during the period under discussion.
