Turkey apparel exports up 4.32% in Jan-May 2019

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 4.32 per cent in the first five months of 2019, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to May 2019, Turkey exported apparel worth $7.762 billion, compared to exports of $7.426 billion clocked during the first five months of 2018, the data showed.

Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $3.809 billion during the five-month period, same as the amount earned during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $2.912 billion, up 5.8 per cent from $2.753 billion exports made in the same period of 2018.

Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 10.4 per cent to $1.041 billion during the period under review. (PC)
