The United Kingdom’s first ever Circular Economy Week was launched on June 18 in London. It aims to drive resource efficiency throughout a product’s lifespan by building a strong community of businesses and organisations working towards a more resilient and resource-efficient economy through new approaches to product design, manufacturing and services.

It is being led by the London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB), which at present operates the Circular London initiative, with the aim to engage with stakeholders from across the value chain to reinforce circular economy business practices and deliver targeted investment.

A circular economy roadmap was published by Circular London last year, to gather stakeholders to collaborate on innovative solutions, according to British media reports.

Events included panel discussions on sustainable lifestyle choices, expert talks on circular approaches to the construction industry, and workshops facilitating collaboration between waste management companies and small and medium enterprises developing new materials. (DS)
