Germany's exports to non-EU nations decline in March 2024

German exports to countries outside the European Union (EU) experienced a slight decline in March 2024, according to the latest provisional data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). On a calendar and seasonally adjusted basis, exports to these third countries decreased by 0.8 per cent compared to February 2024, totalling €59.4 billion.

Further analysis shows a more significant decline when looking at year-on-year figures. In March 2024, German exports to third countries fell by 1.5 per cent compared to the same month the previous year on a seasonally adjusted basis. When considering the original values, the exports amounted to €60.8 billion, marking a sharp decrease of 12.2 per cent from March 2023, as per Destatis.
