Old Navy has been listed among the 2018 Best Workplaces in Retail by Great Place to Work and Fortune. The ranking is based on anonymous surveys involving over 631,000 employees from Great Place to Work-Certified companies in the retail industry. Over 60 factors were evaluated to know whether employees find their organisations a Great Place to Work for All.

The Best Workplaces in Retail list is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and Fortune based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified organisations. Old Navy was ranked as a Best Workplace for Diversity and Giving Back by Great Place to Work and Fortune in 2017.

Eight-five per cent of the evaluation is based on employees’ experiences of workplace trust and reaching their full potential at the organisation, no matter who they are or what they do. The balance of each company’s score takes into account employees’ involvement in company innovation, the organisation’s values, and the effectiveness of their leaders. Old Navy took the 14th spot on the list.

“At Old Navy, we strive to create an environment uniquely anchored in fun, where everyone feels like family,” said Sonia Syngal, president and CEO of Old Navy. “We believe that a great culture drives a great business, and our team is a key differentiator that enables Old Navy to compete and win.”

The Best Workplaces in Retail stand out for creating great workplaces for all employees, regardless of position or other personal characteristics. In 2018, Old Navy focused on fostering a purpose-led culture by creating powerful moments that bring fun and creativity into work every day. Through the launch of internal programmes like the Creative Academy - a training programme to inspire and cultivate creative talent - and the introduction of employee groups that help shape brand-wide engagement initiatives, the brand is continuously investing in ways for employees to squeeze more fun out of life together.

This year, the brand is on track to open more than 60 Old Navy stores across the US, Canada and Mexico by year's end.

“People feel good shopping at retailers that treat employees well,” said Michael C Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “The Best Workplaces in Retail are thriving in an evolving marketplace because they inspire and empower their employees to give their best and provide exceptional experiences for customers.” (SV)
