90-day protest in India against Walmart-Flipkart deal
08 Sep 18 1 min read
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) will launch a 90-day nationwide agitation in New Delhi on September 15 against the Walmart-Flipkart deal and foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail. It has also called for a trade shutdown across India on September 28. It had filed a petition against the Competition Commission of India's decision to approve the deal.
CAIT’s agitation will be intensified, a news agency reported citing an association press release.
According to CAIT secretary general Praveen Khandelwal, when there is no policy for e-commerce, it would be a cakewalk for Walmart to circumvent the FDI policy Press Note No 3 of 2016. (DS)
