CCI to commence cotton procurement in Punjab soon

The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has assured the Punjab government to start procuring cotton in the state for the current fiscal at the soonest possible. CCI officials recently discussed the issue of sale of cotton below the minimum support price (MSP) and cotton procurement with state officials, a state government spokesperson said.
The chief minister is monitoring the cotton procurement process and has directed the deputy commissioners of the cotton-producing districts and Punjab Mandi Board officials to ensure that the farmers get remunerative prices of their produce based on quality and grade, the spokesperson added, according to a news agency report.
