Hermes Germany announces changes in executive board

Alexander Bortel will join the executive board of Hermes Germany, effective January 1, 2024. The current division manager of finance and controlling will then head the services division. He succeeds Hendrik Schneider, who is leaving the company of his own accord to take up a new professional challenge.

In recent years, Schneider has held number of positions within the Otto Group: In addition to sojourns at Bonprix and Otto, Hendrik Schneider most recently worked at executive level at Hermes Germany. “Hendrik Schneider has repeatedly set the tone within the Otto Group. Over the past five years, as an outstanding leader he has successfully developed Hermes Germany. I would sincerely like to thank him for this,” said Kay Schiebur, Otto Group executive board member for services, adding “I’d like to wish him all the best both professionally and personally.”

Currently division manager finance and controlling at Hermes Germany, Bortel joined Otto Group Consulting in 2010, where latterly he had progressed to head a department. As vice president of strategy and mergers and acquisitions, he then moved to the subsidiary Groupe 3SI (since 2017 Hermes France Holding SAS) in France and then took over as the head of planning and management of the Sheego brand at Schwab Versand Hanau in summer 2017. He has been working for Hermes Germany since June 2019 and is successfully responsible for the finance and controlling division.

Schneider has continuously supported his successor, preparing him for this role on the board in order to hand over his responsibilities as planned on January 1, 2024. “I am looking forward to working together within the executive team and to being able to provide further impetus for Hermes Germany in my new role. Special thanks go to Hendrik Schneider and my outstanding team,” said Bortel.

The board at Hermes Germany will then consist of Olaf Schabirosky (CEO), Alexander Bortel (CFO), Dennis Kollmann (CSO) and Marco Schlüter (COO).
