PRC e-tailer Club Factory sets up firms in India
06 Jun 19 1 min read
Chinese e-tailer Club Factory has reportedly opened a couple of companies in India, such as Globemax Technology India and Globemax Commerce India. Documents filed with Indian statutory authorities indicate their directors are directly linked to the company from China. The development is said to be the result of illegal practices by Chinese firms.
Indian firms have been said to be complaining about Chinese e-commerce companies selling goods to Indian entities and shipping them by courier as gifts to evade import duties.
When the affected retailers in India made complaints, the departments concerned moved in and found it was a large-scale racket where several hundred such parcels were being delivered to the same address in Mumbai and other cities.
Apart from Club Factory, there were a few more e-commerce sites identified a few months back when the issue was raked up, according to an Indian business daily.
While such traffic through Mumbai has reportedly been stopped, Indian importers are still getting parcels from China and clearing them through the Foreign Post Office.
Club Factory, however, has refuted these allegations, saying they adhere to Indian regulations. (DS)
