Urvashi Kaur, the visionary force behind a decade and a half of groundbreaking fashion, commemorated her 15-year journey with a spectacular showcase at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) in partnership with FDCI. The showcase, titled ‘Voices of Urvashi Kaur’, was a testament to the brand's effortless subversion of societal-constructs and unwavering commitment to inclusivity, and creative disruption.

The show celebrated the collective impact of its multitude of visionaries and changemakers who have shaped not just the brand's narrative but pioneered large scale impact across industries. Through this experiential performance, Urvashi Kaur's muses took centre stage, clad in timeless silhouettes that embodied the label’s ethos of authenticity and individuality. Transcending conventional norms, the show embraced and celebrated the mastery of Kaur’s eco-design.

Amongst its distinguished muses were veteran actor Ratna Pathak Shah, renowned artist Santanu Hazarika, talented actors Tillotama Shome, Rasika Duggal, Shweta Tripathi, Mallika Dua, Kaustav, and creative-extraordinaries like Vibha Galhotra, Gurjeet Singh, Faraz Ansari and Suvir Saran to name a few. Each muse’s ensemble was meticulously curated and styled to serve as a tactile extension of their own personal identity, the company said in a press release.

The set design, crafted from recycled packaging materials like tetra packs, symbolised the brand's dedication to conscious design and environmental responsibility. Accompanied by the restorative sounds of Martin Dubois' African harp and handpan, the Urvashi Kaur atelier show was an immersive experience, representing a culmination of its industry-shaping change so far and a harbinger of more to come.

A highlight of the showcase was the unveiling of Urvashi Kaur's latest collection, ‘Prana'; an extension of its ongoing ‘Renew’ project. ‘Prana’ explored the primordial energy through a visual exploration that transcends beyond the tangible. Reimagining ancestral heirlooms as new silhouettes, the collection revived these one-of-a-kind textiles, intuitive in placement, organic in movement and elemental in colour. It seamlessly blended indigenous artisanal techniques with the house’s signature contemporary aesthetics, interweaving heritage and innovation.

The ‘Renew’ project breathes new life into archival textiles in the signature contemporary aesthetic, embracing zero-waste, eco-design and upcycling techniques. Each garment tells a story of evolution, highlighting the brand's commitment to slow, mindful design and the preservation of craft ancestries.

"We are thrilled to have commemorated this significant milestone with a showcase that celebrated innovation, incisive disruption, and the power of collective impact," said Kaur. "This experience was a reflection of the past 15 years and a testament to our commitment to create safe spaces for individuals to express themselves authentically. Thus, our designs are ungendered, inclusive and timeless. We stand out from the noise of virality because we feel different. Raw and organic, we leave the rest to the imagination and eventually experience. With a more thoughtful, serious approach, our quiet voice speaks volumes in its own conceptually non-conformist, aspirational way. We seek to evoke and emote through our disarming approach, celebrating our traditional, cultural and ethnic legacies."

The unveiling of ‘Voices of Urvashi Kaur’ atLakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI was a transformative experience, offering audiences a glimpse into the brand's evolution thus far, dedication to challenge boundaries and fostering a space where creativity knows no bounds.
