Italian high-end luxury fashion house Gucci has acquired a plot of land on The Sandbox, a virtual Metaverse where players can play, build, own and monetise their virtual experiences. The new project is an interactive expansion of Gucci Vault, the company’s experimental concept store that is the vision of its creative director Alessandro Michele.

Gucci Vault is building its own virtual world on The Sandbox, the fashion house said in a tweet.

Digital collectibles created and designed by Gucci’s designers will be made available through The Sandbox for players and creators.

“Inspired by those searching for new playgrounds, a new meeting place starts to take shape within The Sandbox. Voxel by voxel, Vault’s bespoke land plays host to a series of impossible experiences,” the company said on the Gucci Vault website.

Vault acts as an emissary of Gucci’s presence within the metaverse, evolving by creating with the community. Web3-based initiatives including NFTs join the platform’s virtual shelves as objects from different eras with diverse origins allow ideas to hybridise and create perfect conditions to spark new creativity for the future.
