Premium fashion event, Jacket Required, to be held on January 23 and 24, 2019, in London, will show eco brands joining its edited global roster of contemporary menswear, breakthrough talent, selected womenswear, footwear, accessories, and lifestyle products. It will show the Blackhorse Lane Ateliers promoting denim sustainability and the ‘remade’ ethos.

The only jeans made in London for over 50 years, Blackhorse Lane Ateliers’ credentials align with Jacket Required’s aim to work towards a more sustainable future for fashion. It opened its doors in April 2016 and, headed up by founder Bilgehan Ates, make and sell ready-to-wear selvedge and organic raw denim with a focus on sustainability, community and unmatched quality. Their denim repair workshop also gives new life to old denim and the team will be demonstrating at the show how it all works, according to a press release.

Based within a renovated 1920s factory building in Walthamstow, the Blackhorse Lane Ateliers combines the production of jeans with the establishment of a modern methodology for a community of makers – think global, act local. Employing local machinists, the business also offers shared ownership to each employee, as well as minimising the environmental impact of making denim garments by using organic cotton, denim woven in Europe, and offering a lifetime repair policy that discourages fast fashion.

“The dedicated team behind Blackhorse Lane Ateliers epitomises the movement towards conscious fashion rather than the fashion conscious and it, together with the growing number of ethical and sustainable brands showing at Jacket Required, is a heartening indication that the industry is waking up and reimagining what the future of fashion could be,” Lindsay Hoyes, event director of Jacket Required said.

Visitors will also be treated to a smorgasbord of new collections from the following brands; Le Mont Saint Michel, Peregrine Clothing, Knickerbocker, Cheaney, Colorful Standard, Hummel, Quoddy, Armor Lux, Dickies, Grenson, Guess, Happy Socks, Pendleton, 7L System, Mephisto Originals, Portuguese Flannel, Teva, Yogi Footwear, Colmar, Karl Kani, American Trench, Craighill, and Monokel.
