The municipal government in Busan, South Korea's second-biggest city and the birthplace of the textile industry there, will build a fashion business centre to help boost the textile and fashion industry. Covering 1,613 square meters in Beomil-dong, the Busan Fashion Business Centre will be built with financial support of $2.8 million from the government.

The centre will serve as a ‘one-stop control tower’ for the textile industry in the port city by offering assistance in design, manufacture and marketing of apparel and other fashion products, a South Korean news agency reported quoting a government official.

Several traditional markets in Beomil-dong already host thousands of apparel shops and sewing units.

The city will also expand Busan Fashion Creative Studio (BFCS), launched in 2015 to help fashion designers by providing creative space and consulting support, mentoring and promotion and marketing programs. The studio supports 20 designer teams at present. (DS)
