Kering has announced the appointment of Seán McGirr as the new creative director of British luxury fashion brand Alexander McQueen. McGirr, an Irish national born in Dublin, was previously the head of ready-to-wear at JW Anderson.
McGirr joined JW Anderson in 2020, initially overseeing the men’s collections before expanding his role to include womenswear. Prior to that, he served as a Women's Designer for Dries Van Noten in Antwerp. From 2014 to 2018, McGirr was a key player in Uniqlo's creative offices in Tokyo and Paris, focusing on men’s collections under the guidance of Christophe Lemaire.
Educated at Central Saint Martins in London, where he obtained a Master of Arts in Fashion in 2014, McGirr started his career assisting at Burberry and Vogue Hommes Japan.
