The world’s most expensive purse, Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse, will be auctioned by the auction house Christie’s. It will be sold through private sales next month. The purse set the Guinness World Record for being the most valuable handbag having an original price of $3.8 million in 2010. This statement piece was designed by jeweller Robert Mouawad.
The purse is currently being exhibited in Geneva and was previously exhibited in Hong Kong.
The purse has been inspired from epic tales of romance, intrigue, and fantasy, and is hand-crafted. It has been incorporated with 4,517 diamonds out of which 105 diamonds are yellow and 56 diamonds are pink in colour. The left over diamonds are colourless. The front of the purse dazzles with a firework motif in pink diamonds working outwards from a central diamond heart. The weight of the purse is 381.92 carats.
Artisans took more than 8,800 hours to complete the intricate diamond work, according to Christie's website. (VM)
