Italy-based Thermore, which specialises in the research, development, production, and marketing of high-quality thermal insulation for apparel, has released Ecodown Fibers Ocean—the first thermal insulation made from 100 per cent ocean-bound raw materials (PET bottles). It is ocean cycle-certified and made at Thermore’s state-of-the-art production site in Hong Kong.

Ecodown Fibers Ocean, just like all Ecodown Fibers, is extremely soft and highly resistant to clumping, Thermore said in a press release.

As sustainability is part of Thermore’s core values, the company is also increasing the content of recycled fibres to 75 per cent for its best-selling product, Thermore Classic, the ultra-versatile thermal insulation.

The use of microfibres has been banned from all Thermore products as microfibres are known to pollute lakes and oceans as well as contaminate food. Similarly, ocean bound plastics also constitute a big risk for the environment; they make up as much as 80 per cent of plastic pollution in the oceans.
