Lycra fibre has backed trends in better fitting, comfort

Lycra fibre is witnessing resurgence in traditional categories like shirting and has backed recent trends by meeting consumer needs of better fitting and comfort, according to Serge Vigouroux, executive vice president, new ventures & marketing, The Lycra Company. Examples include bralettes in intimate apparel, athleisure in activewear and jeggings in denims.

US-based The Lycra Company owns the Lycra, Coolmax and Thermolite fibre technology brands and innovates and produces fibre and technology solutions for the apparel and hygiene industries, as well as specialty chemicals used in the spandex and polyurethane value chains.

The market in Asia-Pacific, specifically China, has been very receptive to the value of the Lycra fibre, not merely for exports, but also for the local consumer market, where the company has witnessed unprecedented growth, Vigouroux told Fibre2Fashion in an interview. (DS)
