Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), India’s largest player in polyester value chain, has slashed prices of purified terephthalic acid (PTA), monoethylene glycol (MEG) and MELT for the coming week. Last week, the company had reduced prices of PTA and MELT, but MEG was kept unchanged.

RIL reviews price trend in China and fluctuation in crude oil prices to fix prices of polyester raw materials. Indian market follows the price trend of Reliance as it is the dominating player in the country.

According to the market sources, RIL fixed prices as: PTA ₹83.90 per kg (decrease ₹3.30), MEG at ₹52.10 per kg (decrease ₹0.90) and MELT ₹89.87 per kg (decrease ₹2.84). The pricing of polyester raw materials will come into effect from May 6. RIL is reducing prices of PTA and MELT regularly to align domestic prices with global trend.

The company had rolled over prices of polyester staple fibre (PSF) at ₹110 per kg for the current fortnight.
