Debenhams appoints David Adams as non-executive director

British multinational retailer Debenhams has appointed David Adams, senior independent non-executive director at Halfords Group and a director in another four companies, as the non-executive director. Adams will join the audit and remuneration committees of the Debenhams board and become chairman of the audit committee in January 2018.
Adam’s knowledge of the consumer and leisure sectors and his financial credentials will be a great addition to the board," British media reports quoted Debenhams chairman Sir Ian Cheshire as saying.
Adams served as finance director and deputy chief executive of House of Fraser until 2006, followed by executive chairman of Jessops, where he became non-executive chairman in 2009. He has held several executive and non-executive roles in his 30-year-old career in retailing. (DS)
