V Mart Retail reports sales of ₹781 mn in Q1 FY21

V Mart Retail, India's leading value fashion retailer, has reported sales decline to ₹781 million in it first quarter (Q1) for fiscal 2021 that ended on June 30, 2020 compared to the sales of ₹4,530 million in same period last year. Company incurred a loss during the reported quarter of ₹336 million compared to profit of ₹175 million during Q1 FY20.
Apparel sales were down to around 78.3 per cent in Q1 FY21 compared to 82.1 per cent of total sales in Q1 FY20. Whereas, non-apparel sales were stagnant at 11.2 per cent (Q1 FY20: 11.5 per cent).
Company’s EBITDA was a loss making to ₹58.0 million compared to earnings of ₹578 million in Q1 FY20. Loss after tax for the quarter was ₹336 million compared to profit of ₹176 million in Q1 FY20.
The number of stores after the second quarter were 266 with 2 new stores added and 2 stores were closed as well.
