Italy's seasonally-adjusted Jan retail sales value index dips 0.1% MoM

Estimates for seasonally-adjusted index of value retail sales in Italy slightly fell by 0.1 per cent month on month (MoM) in January this year and volume contracted by 0.3 per cent MoM, according to official statistical agency Istat.

In the three months to January, value of retail sales grew by 0.3 per cent quarter on quarter (QoQ) and volume of sales decreased by 0.1 per cent QoQ.

The country’s retail trade value grew by 1 per cent year on year (YoY) in January, showing an upward trend since February 2021, while volume sales fell by 2.1 per cent YoY during the month.

Large-scale distribution was up by 1.4 per cent YoY, small-scale distribution grew by 0.5 per cent YoY and non-store retail sales dropped by 0.4 per cent YoY during the month.

Online sales grew by 1 per cent YoY during the month.
