JC Penney Q2 FY20: revenues $1,459 mn; net loss $398 mn

JC Penney, a US-based apparel and home retailer company, posted decrease in its total revenues to $1,459 million in its second quarter (Q2) for fiscal 2020 that ended on August 1, 2020, compared to revenues of $2,619 million in the same period previous fiscal. During Q2 FY20, company incurred a net loss of $398 million (Q2 FY19: $48 million).
Selling, general and administrative expenses were down to $470 million ($870 million). Operating loss for the quarter was $153 million compared to operating income of $17 million in Q2 FY19.
Sales of women’s apparel during the quarter were down to $271 million ($558 million). Men’s apparel and accessories sales dropped to $289 million ($537 million). Women’s accessories, including Sephora reported sales declined to $219 million ($401 million). While, home segment sales fell to $172 million ($246 million).
