The US-based company reduced its total energy consumption to 15,137 terajoules in 2020 from 39,141 terajoules in 2019. Its greenhouse gas emissions reduced to 1.10 mmt CO2e in 2020 from 2.78 mmt CO2e in 2019, as per the company’s 2020 corporate sustainability report titled Brightening the Horizon: Innovative Solutions for a Low-Carbon Economy.
The company is also committed to eliminating tier-1 process safety incidents and life-impacting injuries and fatalities.
In 2020, the revenue of Huntsman stood at $6,018 million, less than $6,797 million in 2019. However, the net income went from $598 million in 2019 to $1,066 million in 2020, the report said.
“The pathway to a cleaner environment and more efficient economy runs through Huntsman,” said Brittany Benko, senior vice president of environmental, health, safety and manufacturing excellence and corporate sustainability officer for Huntsman. “In addition to the improvements we are making in our operations to run more efficiently and reduce both energy and water usage, our products are directly tied to shrinking the environmental footprint of our customers.”
This is Huntsman's 10th published sustainability report since launching its corporate sustainability initiative in 2010.
