Textile Asia-2018 ends in Lahore, JVs worth $175 mn signed

Asia's biggest international trade exhibition, Textile Asia-2018, concluded in Lahore recently with agreements for joint ventures (JVs) worth $175 million signed. Jointly organised by Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) and E-commerce Gateway, the exhibition attracted 55,000 visitors from different sectors of textile industry.
Chinese companies at the show from places like Shanghai, Guangzhou, Jiangsu, Fujian and Shandong showed interest to relocate their textile, garment and accessories production units to Punjab, with investments of at least $25 million for each unit, Pakistani media reports quoted PCJCCI president SM Naveed as saying.
The companies also agreed to transfer technology and buying back Pakistani products after value-addition, he added. (DS)
