Azerbaijan yarn output shoots up over 50% in H1 2019

Yarn production shot up by more than 50 per cent compared to the previous year in Azerbaijan, a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, during the first six months of the current year, according to data from the country’s State Statistical Committee. Production of clothing, footwear and leather goods also witnessed an uptrend during the six-month period.

In January-June 2019, Azerbaijan produced yarn valued at 198.1 million manats ($116.19 million), registering an increase of 51.2 per cent year-on-year. The value of clothing produced during the half-year rose by 3.3 per cent to 59.1 million manats ($34.66 million), while the production of footwear and other leather goods was up by 2 per cent to 9.2 million manats ($5.40 million), according to the data.

During the period under review, average apparel prices increased by 1.1 per cent year-on-year, while that of fabrics and footwear grew by 4.2 per cent and 1.1 per cent respectively. (RKS)
