The 14th edition of the Footwear and Leather Goods Expo will enhance the Nepali leather and footwear industry. The six-day national level industrial exhibition scheduled to begin from December 28 in Kathmandu, will also provide an ideal opportunity to its consumers to identify and enrich the belief in the quality of Nepali native production.

Small, medium and large scale industries from various parts of Nepal will present their creations in the leather and footwear segments at the expo organised by the Footwear Manufacturers Association of Nepal (FMAN).

"If the government gives priority to promote footwear and leather industry then Nepal can be self reliant in terms of footwear and leather products as Nepali products are of comparable quality to their imported counterpart and reasonably priced," Ravi Kumar Shrestha, president of FMAN, told the media.

The expo will also host a fashion show where artists and models will walk the ramp presenting shoes, slippers and such other leather products.

“Nepal has been importing products from other countries and we can balance trade by promoting domestic products and increasing consumption of domestic products,” added Shrestha. (RR)
