French home decor brand Maisons Du Monde Q1 FY21 sales rise to €331 mn

Maisons Du Monde, a French furniture and home decor company, reported 35.8 per cent sales growth to €330.9 million in its first quarter (Q1) FY21 ended on March 31, 2021, compared to the sales of €243.7 million in the corresponding period of previous fiscal. The company's online sales for Q1 FY21 grew 76.2 per cent to €123.7 million (Q1 FY20: €70.2 million).
“Maisons du Monde turned in an outstanding performance in the first quarter, providing another clear demonstration of the attractiveness of our brand and strength of our omnichannel model. Sales growth was driven both by an excellent performance by stores that remained opened and record online activity,” Julie Walbaum, chief executive officer of Maisons du Monde, said in a press release.
Sales in France region increased 42.3 per cent to €181.5 million (€127.5 million), while international sales grew 28.6 per cent to €149.5 million (€116.2 million).
During Q1 FY21, sales of decoration segment rose 39.3 per cent to €175.5 million (€126.0 million) and furniture sales were up 32.0 per cent to €154.4 million (€117.7 million).
“The online sales 76 per cent growth was achieved thanks to the success of our own collections and by the continuing promising ramp-up of our selective marketplace. Given this momentum, the group currently expects to post a solid Q2,” Walbaum said.
