Grasim among India's top ten companies for sustainability

Grasim Industries has been ranked 9th among the top ten Indian corporates for its sustainability and CSR practices by the ET and Futurescape 7th Responsible Business Rankings 2020. It has been acknowledged for its successful implementation and promotion of sustainable practices, policies, and initiatives towards building a sustainable business.

The ET and Futurescape 7th Responsible Business Rankings were released during the Economic Times SDGs Impact Summit 2020 and are based on the study of sustainability activities of India’s top companies. The 2020 edition of the ET SDG Impact Summit is based on the theme of ‘Reimagining Our Planet-Building Back Better’ and was held virtually on 29 September 2020. On the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the summit saw top business leaders, academicians, policy-leaders, and green champions deliberate on the relevance of SDGs at this inflection point along with the need for building a better planet with an inclusive approach, according to a press release by parent company, Aditya Birla group.

Dilip Gaur, MD of Grasim addressed the summit and highlighted the actives and initiatives undertaken over the years to become a sustainability leader. He informed that Grasim’s viscose sites in India are among the most water efficient sites and that Grasim Nagda would be world’s first Zero Liquid Discharge plant by 2021. The Nagda site already harvests 3 times water that it needs and the water stored at its reservoirs serve the need of over 3 lac people in 50 villages around the site.
