Indian commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal recently suggested five focus areas—trade, technology, connectivity, entrepreneurship, and health and tourism—to enhance economic ties with Bangladesh, India's biggest trade partner in South Asia with an annual trade volume of over $10 billion.  India is developing two economic zones at Mirsarai and Mongla in Bangladesh, he said.

The minister was virtually addressing the Bangladesh International Investment Summit.

Both the countries are looking forward to advance the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

The India-Bangladesh Textile Industry Forum (IBTIF) has been set up to facilitate cooperation in the textile sector. Efforts to further improve connectivity are imperative for trade expansion and realisation of the investment potential between Bangladesh and eastern India, he was quoted as saying by a news agency.
