Pakistan's textile & apparel exports up 17.35% in July-April FY21

Category-wise, knitwear exports rose by a sharp 30.69 per cent year-on-year to $3.126 billion during the ten-month period ending March 31, 2021, while exports of non-knit readymade garments were up 12.56 per cent to $2.512 billion.
Among textiles, cotton yarn exports decreased by 4.03 per cent to $823.948 million in July-April 2020-21, as against exports of $858.580 million made during the corresponding period of 2019-20. Exports of cotton fabric also declined by 1.24 per cent and were valued at $1.581 billion during the period under discussion.
Bedwear exports, on the other hand, increased by 24.66 per cent to $2.291 billion, the data showed.
On the import side, synthetic fibre imports increased 32.72 per cent year-on-year to $501.530 million, while imports of synthetic and artificial silk yarn rose 24.17 per cent to $566.551 million during the period under review. Meanwhile, the value of textile machinery imports by Pakistan increased by 13.90 per cent year-on-year to $433.232 million during the ten-month period.
In fiscal 2019-20 ending June 30, textile and garment exports from Pakistan decreased by 6.01 per cent to $12.526 billion over $13.327 billion exports in the previous fiscal.
