Surat weaves love this Christmas

30 Dec 17 2 min read

There was a new fabric woven in India’s textile hub of Surat this Christmas. Hundreds of fabrics are woven out in millions of metres every day from Surat, but the fabric of humanity was on display this Christmas Day.

It was an exceptional event wherein two communities united to celebrate the festival of the third community. Textile entrepreneur and Zenitex CEO Viral Desai organised Christmas celebration at the Surat Islam Yatimkhana (orphanage), at Athwa Gate, Surat. The orphanage was decorated with balloons and a Christmas Tree. Desai distributed 150 blankets, cakes, chocolates and gifts among children of the orphanage. A delicious appetizing and succulent dinner was also served to the children, who relished it in the cold winter climate.

“Festivals celebrated in this manner prove that love is beyond caste, region or religion. Humanity is the biggest religion which connects all of us. Zenitex through its CSR initiative Hearts@work Foundation organised this event—a unique example of unity and secularism,” said Desai.

Further, in continuation his Hearts@work Foundation’s “Clean India – Green India” campaign awareness, Desai also distributed plants to the children in the orphanage and also to its management.

“Many more such events are required to meet the demand of this fabric of humanity, which is the essence of our culture and heritage,” added Desai. (RKS)
