The number of unemployed persons in Turkiye aged 15 and over increased by 115,000 to 3.116 million in November last year compared to the previous month’s figure, according to Household Labour Force Survey.

The unemployment rate was an estimated 9 per cent—an increase of 0.4 percentage point compared to the previous month; it was estimated 7.5 per cent for men and 11.8 per cent for women, an official release said.

The number of employed persons in the country decreased by 236,000 to 31.611 million in November 2023 compared to the previous month’s figure.

The employment rate was 48.2 per cent—a decrease of 0.4 percentage point; this rate was 65.4 per cent for men and 31.3 per cent for women.

The number of persons in the labour force was 34.726 million in November last year—a decrease of 122,000 compared with the previous month’s figure.

Labour force participation rate was 52.9 per cent—a decrease of 0.2 percentage point. This rate was 70.7 per cent for men and 35.5 per cent for women.

The youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 16.5 per cent during the month—an increase of 0.3 percentage point compared to the previous month’s figure. This rate was an estimated 14.2 per cent for men and 20.7 per cent for women.
