The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in Q2 was 9.7 per cent—a 0.3-percentage-point decrease. Unemployment rate was estimated at 7.8 per cent for men and 13.4 per cent for women, an official release said.
The seasonally-adjusted number of employed increased by 151,000 to 31.531 million in Q2 2023 compared to Q1. The seasonally-adjusted employment rate was 48.2 per cent in the quarter, with a rise of 0.1 percentage point. This rate was 65.7 per cent for men and 31.1 per cent for women.
The seasonally-adjusted labour force increased by 80,000 to 34.914 million in Q2 2023 compared to Q1 and the seasonally-adjusted labour force participation rate was 53.4 per cent without any change. Labour force participation rate was estimated 71.2 per cent for men and 36 per cent for women.
Seasonally-adjusted youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group was 18.3 per cent—a fall of 1.2 percentage point compared to Q1. Unemployment rate in this age group was an estimated 15.1 per cent for men and 24.1 per cent for women.
