Uster celebrates 60 years of Uster Statistics
21 Dec 17 1 min read
The Uster Group, a high-technology instrument manufacturer of products for quality measurement and certification of textiles, is celebrating 60 years of its Uster Statistics textile benchmarking tool. It is an essential tool for comparing key parameters along the entire yarn production chain, from raw fibre through sliver and roving to the final yarn.
The textile industry benefits from the Uster Statistics since 1957. The worldwide established yarn quality reference values serve yarn producers, yarn users, and machine manufacturers. They can compare their measured results with global benchmarks and benefit in many ways.
The Uster Statistics are an undoubtedly wonderful ‘invention’ – even though they were not actually invented as such. In fact, they evolved as vital benchmark values out of an urgent need by the industry to compare yarn quality. That process of evolution in response to industry requirements might well be the secret of their success during the past six decades. (GK)
