Radianza to sponsor SAC's global member meeting
14 Sep 20 2 min read
Radianza brand, a flagship fibre brand from Aditya Birla Group’s Thai Acrylic Fibre, has announced that it will sponsor upcoming Sustainable Apparel Coalition global member meeting from September 15-17, 2020. Radianza, a ready-to-use dyed fibre made with gel dyeing technology, eliminates the need for yarn or fabric dyeing later in the manufacturing process.
The dyeing process is one of the most pollution-intensive and one of the most hazardous processes in textile manufacturing as it consumes large quantities of water and energy and discharges unused dye into the environment, thereby polluting land and water reserves.
“We are very proud to be partnering with SAC and augment its efforts in making transformational changes by driving social and environmental improvements of our industry. We have received great response from our customers, value chain partners and brands & retailers who have worked with Radianza fibre. We are confident that the gel-dyeing concept of Radianza will give another perspective to the SAC members on looking at sustainable materials and processes,” Thomas Varghese, business head, textile business, Aditya Birla Group, said in a press release.
Life cycle analysis of Radianza proves that, by producing one sweater made with Radianza, it saves 30 litres of water, needs 25MJ less energy, and creates 1.45kg less CO2 emission.
“We are excited to welcome Radianza as our silver sponsor for the SAC global member meeting,” Amina Razvi, SAC executive director, said. “As it develops materials for the apparel industry, Radianza is focused on reducing environmental impacts, setting a great example for prioritising sustainability.”
