Japanese chemical firm Asahi Kasei reports FY20 sales of ¥2,106 bn

Asahi Kasei, a Japanese chemical company also involved in apparel material, has reported 2.1 per cent sales decline to ¥2,106.0 billion (Japanese yen) in its complete fiscal 2020 ended on March 31, 2021, compared to ¥2,151.6 billion in the same period prior fiscal. The company’s net income fell 23.2 per cent ¥79.7 billion (FY19: ¥103.9 billion).
Operating income for FY20 came down 3.1 per cent to ¥171.8 billion (¥177.2 billion), while ordinary income dropped 3.2 per cent to ¥178.0 billion (¥184.0 billion).
Sales of material segment during the year decreased to ¥991.2 billion (¥1.0 billion), and homes segment sales slipped to ¥692.6 billion (¥704.4 billion). However, health care segment sales jumped to ¥407.9 billion (¥337.7 billion).
Regionally, sales in Japan for FY20 was ¥1,204.2 billion (¥1,290.0 billion). US sales rose to ¥309.7 billion (¥269.4 billion, while China’s sales were up to ¥198.9 billion (¥188.5 billion). Other regions reported sales of ¥393.2 billion (¥403.5 billion).
