India’s ‘Aatamnirbhar Bharat’ mission will not be inward-looking, closed or anti-foreigner, said minister of commerce and industry Piyush Goyal, who recently held a virtual meeting with representatives of industry and trade associations. The concept entails a confident, self-reliant, caring nation that takes care of all strata of the society, he said.
This was the fifth such meeting since the lockdown with the associations to assess the impact of COVID-19 lockdown and subsequent relaxations on their activities and take note of their suggestions to put the economy back on track, according to an official release.
Lamenting on the import of routine items like furniture, toys, sports shoes, Goyal said this is happening despite the country having the technical prowess and skilled manpower.
