Govt extends deadline to file GSTR-2, GSTR-3 by a month

The government of India has announced the extension of the last date of filing of goods and services tax returns (GSTR)-2 for July, 2017 to 30 November, 2017 and GSTR-3 for the month of July, 2017 to 11 December, 2017. Recently, the government also declared the extension of filing GSTR-1 form to November 30, 2017, from the earlier October 31, 2017.

"Previously, the last date for filing of GSTR-2 for the month of July, 2017 was 31 October, 2017. The competent authority has approved the extension of filing of GSTR-2 for July, 2017 to 30 November, 2017, for facilitation of businesses and all taxpayers," the finance ministry said in a statement.
Similarly, the deadline for filing GSTR-3 for the month of July, 2017 also stands extended to 11 December, 2017, which otherwise was 10 November, 2017.
This will facilitate about 30.81 lakh taxpayers for filing GSTR-2 for the month of July, 2017, the statement said. (RR)
