China's cotton & yarn imports decrease in September

China imported lesser quantity of both cotton and cotton yarn in the month of September, according to the customs statistics. The country's cotton imports in September 2019 stood at 80,000 tons, registering a decline of 42.8 per cent year-on-year. In the first three quarters, cotton imports totalled 1.51 million tons, up 34.4 per cent year-on-year.

In September 2019, China imported 150,000 tons of cotton yarn, down 16.7 per cent year-on-year. Total cotton yarn imports during the first nine months of 2019 stood at 1.48 million tons, showing a decline of 8.07 per cent over the corresponding period of 2018, the data showed.

Meanwhile, China exported 25,000 tons of cotton yarn in September 2019, with year-on-year decline of 18.75 per cent. During January-September 2019, China's cotton yarn exports dropped 7.06 per cent year-on-year to 292,700 tons.
