Description : 19th century saphiret glass rolled gold cufflinks. These stones are gorgeous, cool blue with flashes of gold. Very hard to capture in the photo. Saphiret glass was a very popular Gablonz bijouterie glass created in the 19th century. Its bi-colored appearance results from gold, which is added as an ingredient to a basic sapphire blue glass. In the second half of the 19th century, there are references to saphiret glass which fetched higher prices than gold-ruby.
