Description : Our stylish dagged gown is a literal reconstruction of a garment pictured in the Decameron. The gown has the simple semi-fitted body, mid length skirts, small standing collar and bag sleeves seen in the manuscript. Most interesting is the deep, elaborate dagging on the skirt, and fringe on the upper arm. This dagging is referred to as 'zaddeln'( sing. 'zaddel' ) in German, and is a civilian nod to military fashion, much as camoflage is used as a fashion fabric today. This gown is worn over a doublet and hosen. The body and sleeves are lined in our signature oatmeal linen, while the skirts are unlined. The front closes with handmade hooks and eyes. This unique, beautifully tailored garment will take a gentleman from town to the hunt in comfort and style.
