Indian footwear major Liberty Shoes is preparing to open about 50 stores over the next 12 months, with an annual revenue target of Rs 1,000 crore by 2020 compared to its current figure of Rs 600 crore. The company, with 12 sub-brands in its portfolio, is planning to introduce a few varieties of footwear and raise its retail presence across the country.
The company also has big plans for the accessories segment, including shoe care, foot care and leather bags, which it entered recently. It has done the test marketing and the products are present in about 200 outlets, company managing director Anupam Bansal told a news agency.
Bansal expects the accessories segment, which currently is at 4-5 per cent, to contribute at least 10 per cent of the overall business.
Liberty, the second largest shoe manufacturing company in the country after Bata, sells its products at 400 exclusive stores and through more than 5,000 multi-brand outlets.
