Asics reports Q3 FY20 sales of ¥248 bn

Asics, a Japanese multinational corporation producing footwear, has reported 13.3 per cent sales decrease to ¥248.20 billion (Japanese yen) in its third quarter (Q3) for fiscal 2020 that ended on September 30, compared to sales of ¥286.1 billion in same period last year. Operating income for Q3 slipped to ¥3.27 billion (Q3 FY19: ¥12.67 billion).
Gross profit for Q3 fell 13.6 per cent to ¥116.10 billion. Ordinary income decreased 98.0 per cent to ¥259 million.
Group’s e-commerce sales continued to increase worldwide during the reported quarter. In North America it rose 149 per cent, Europe 131 per cent, and 102 per cent in consolidated level.
During the quarter, performance running sales grew 19 per cent. While, for Onitsuka Tiger, the group launched sneakers produced in collaboration with Valentino, which were unveiled at Valentino’s men’s collection for autumn/winter 2020.
Asics sales in Japan dropped to ¥70.98 billion (¥92.36 billion) for Q3 FY20. North America region sales decreased to $48.79 billion (¥60.14 billion). However, sales in Greater China increased to ¥30.95 billion (¥29.81 billion).
