Its foundation stone was laid recently by state information technology and industries minister KT Rama Rao and rural development minister E Dayakar Rao, according to media reports from the state.
The first unit of the Kitex cluster, to be spread over 200 acres, is expected to be operational by the end of 2022.
The ministers also inaugurated the first phase of Ganesha Ecosphere’s project in the textile park. The polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle recycling company has invested about ₹350 crore to manufacture recycled polyester fibre and yarn among other products.
The two plants, which will come up in an area of 50 acres, will conform to US Food and Drug Administration and European Food Safety Authority norms to recycle PET bottle waste into premium quality products.
