- Fashion company Bestseller has announced a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, thanks to its partnership with Maersk using low-emission biofuel for ocean transport.
- By using Maersk Eco Delivery, Bestseller has avoided 37,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
- Logistics now accounts for only 3 per cent of the company's total direct and indirect CO2 emissions.
Ocean transport makes up more than 80 per cent of Bestseller's transportation solutions, and Maersk Eco Delivery covers the vast majority of its sea freight.
Furthermore, logistics now accounts for only 3 per cent of the company's total direct and indirect CO2 emissions, a significant reduction from before the partnership, Bestseller said in a press release.
Without the low-emission biofuel solution, Bestseller's logistics emissions for 2021-22 would have been more than 20 per cent higher.

“We are proud to see our investment in low-emission ocean transport makes a real difference on our environmental footprint. This partnership will continue to play an important part of our sustainability strategy and seeing the positive results encourages us as we plan the next step on our journey towards a fully carbon-neutral logistics operation,” said Allan Kyhe Kjærgaard, logistics director at Bestseller.
“We are proud to see one of the world's top fashion and lifestyle groups progress towards their ambitious sustainability goals by investing in Maersk ECO Delivery. The solution is a mass balancing concept that takes advantage of emission reductions without compromising flexibility or efficiency in the supply chain design,” said Stig Kirkegaard, area head of key customers in Scandinavia at AP Moller—Maersk.
