The entire world of textiles followed what India did till that period. The ‘Industrial Revolution’ spearheaded by Britain in the 18th Century ushered in a radical change in the manufacturing of textiles through mechanization. The leadership changed hands and India took a back seat. The world of textiles, in the recent period has been passing through a new cycle primarily due to relocation of textile industry wherein India and China have emerged as global leaders once more. Many influencing factors favoring India include the significantly enhanced availability of cotton and man-made fibers topped by very conducive national and state textile policies have put India back into a position of a great leap forward.
